SKALA is where creation and collaboration happens, assembling artistes’ beliefs and intuition.

Fuelled by the philosophy of gamelan in which establishing a relationship between the musician and the music requires more than hitting the right notes, SKALA aspires to ascend towards rasa – the highest form of aesthetics in karawitan; an intangible aspect of musicianship that encompasses perception, feelings, and aspects of time and space.

As a response to an increasingly complex and singular landscape, SKALA embraces music as an intuitive trajectory where time spent collectively honing one’s craft results in humility, restraint and refinement.
